Cartier's New Additions to Miss Pasha and Ballon Bleu Watch Collections
Cartier recently announced that they would be releasing new watch additions to the Miss Pasha and Ballon Bleu collections this June. Cartier’s Ballon Blue collection has been extremely popular, especially among women and June Cartier is planning to release a new, larger Ballon Bleu chronograph for men. The clean classic curves of the Ballon Bleu along with the refined style of the dial will make this collection equally appealing to men. Jaquet Droz Continues with Painted Enamel Watch Dial Tradition
Jaquet Droz wishes to honor the art of painting on enamel in the 21st century and uphold the traditions of its founder; this painstaking decorative technique is applied to a few remarkable pieces in its collection. The painter does everything by hand, with the aid of a microscope: it takes at least 40 hours to produce each one-of-a-kind piece!

The Breitling Super Constellation Chronograph Watch
Attention all aviation enthusiasts! Breitling has announced the creation of a new watch that commemorates the restoration of the Super Constellation plane. This particular craft, nicknamed “Connie,” has a triple-tail design and a dolphin-shaped fuselage and was used as a civilian airliner, U.S military plane in WWII, and it also served as Dwight D. Eisenhower’s presidential aircraft. A total of 856 Super Constellation planes were constructed from 1943 to 1958 by Lockheed in Burbank, CA.
This particular breed of plane already has a standing history of being supported by Breitling as this famous luxury brand sponsored the Super Constellation’s restoration in 2001. At this time, only three of the Super Constellation planes are still in flying condition. After the tune-up of one of these planes, it was renamed the Breitling Super Constellation and outfitted with Breitling’s signature 1950’s era “B” logo on the tail. This plane has been featured in much of Breitling’s advertising.
This watch, of Breitling’s Navitimer collection, will be limited to 1,049 pieces. The case-back features an engraving of the Super Connie and the technical specifications of the aircraft. Proceeds from the purchase of the Breitling Super Constellation Chronograph will go towards the Swiss-based Super Constellation Flyers Association.

Getting Ready for the Nashville Iroquois Steeplechase
The Iroquois Steeplechase has become one of the definitive signs of spring for Nashville since its inaugural year in 1941. The Steeplechase is primarily about the excitement of the horse races and fundraising for the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, but this event has become widely anticipated as one of the first major social events of the year. Before the races start attendees usually arrive early to picnic, play games, catch up on news, and of course, show off those hats.
The Iroquois Steeplechase provides a fantastic opportunity to crowd-watch and search for the standards of steeplechase fashion: the seersucker suits, sundresses, and elaborate head-wear that ranges from pieces from millinery masters to home-decorated accessories. TAG Heuer Releases Orange Formula 1 Watch
The 2011 Formula 1 circuit started at the end of March and will continue on until the end of November. TAG Heuer, a watch brand long known for its race-inspired timepieces, has released a new edition to its favored Formula 1 collection. This sporty looking watch has a quartz movement with day-glow orange Arabic numerals. The design of TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 series is directly impacted by high performance FI automotive technology. May Birthstone Spotlight: Emerald
If you watched this year’s New York Fashion Week, you’ll know that blues and greens were the favored colors on the runway and the red carpet. As we settle into spring, this trend shows no sign of slowing down, which ties in perfectly with May’s birthstone, the emerald. This vibrant green gemstone has a long history of being a favorite gemstones among the world’s most powerful people, including the sultans of Topkapi, the Aztecs of South America, and Cleopatra of Egypt.
The most prized emeralds have a strong green color, have excellent clarity, and very few inclusions. However, emeralds of this quality are notoriously rare and thus the emerald remains one of the most expensive gemstones carat for carat. Emeralds of lesser quality are often cut into cabochons to make the inclusions less obvious. It’s no wonder then that this lovely gemstone has become representative of the goddess Venus, has been worn in the crown of Alexander the Great, and coveted by Cortez the conquistador.
 Emeralds also come in a variety of green hues, partly depending on the region they were mined from. Colombia is considered by far the most desirable source for emeralds because its mines produce emeralds with a rich green color and occasionally the rare Trapiche emerald, which has six rays that originate from the center of the stone. |  Emeralds from Zambia are often a very dark green, darker than Colombian emeralds on average, and they sometimes have a bluish cast. |
 Zimbabwe emeralds are smaller in size, but have a strong, bright green color with maybe an yellowish undercurrent. |  Brazil also produces high-quality emerald, but the color is not as intense or as preferable as Colombian emeralds. |

What Kate Wore: The Jewelry of the Royal Wedding
The Royal Wedding was only Friday and people are still talking about it, whether it’s Kate’s stunning dress by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, hats that defied physics, and of course, the jewelry. Even if you weren’t one of the enthusiasts that awoke at 4am to watch the affair live, there’s been plenty of photographs and video footage to go around.
1. Cartier Halo Tiara
Kate opted to wear the Cartier Halo diamond and platinum tiara, lent to her by Queen Elizabeth. This diamond and platinum tiara is modest in comparison to the rest of Queen Elizabeth’s extensive tiara collection, but it suited Kate’s elegant and streamlined look. This tiara was made by luxury jewelry giant Cartier in 1936 and it was purchased by Albert, the Duke of York for his wife, Elizabeth, three weeks before he succeeded his brother as King George VI. Elizabeth’s daughter, the current Queen Elizabeth II, received the Cartier tiara as an 18th birthday present in 1944.
2. Custom Robinson Pelham Diamond Drop Earrings
Kate’s parents had these pave diamond earrings custom made to match the Cartier Halo Tiara, and they also feature a pave diamond, dangling acorn motif in reference to the Middleton family crest. Kate’s sister Phillipa also sported a fantastic floral pair of Robinson Pelham diamond earrings that matched the more nature-inspired headpiece she wore.
3. Welsh Gold Wedding Band
Kate’s wedding ring is a Welsh gold band made by Wartski. The same company that made gold wedding bands for Prince Charles and Camilla’s wedding. Prince William decided to go without a wedding band, perhaps due to the professional hazards of helicopter search-and-rescue.
Of course there were also plenty of pearls to go around. Queen Elizabeth II matched her soft yellow outfit with a simple pair of stud pearl earrings and a triple pearl-strand necklace.
