“And the Oscar Goes To…” Big Bracelets Make a Statement at the 2016 Academy Awards

Every year we watch the Academy Awards with bated breath- mostly to see if Leonardo DiCaprio will finally take home an Oscar. We also tune-in to gawk at the gorgeous and glamorous fashion choices on Hollywood’s biggest night. This year, one jewelry trend stood out from the rest: large statement bracelets adorned the wrists of both men and women on the red carpet.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett, who was nominated for Best Actress for the stunning film Carol, arrived in a gorgeous blue gown accented by Tiffany jewelry from their Blue Book collection. She wore a large platinum starfish cuff adorned with round cut diamonds. While she may not have taken home the Oscar (Brie Larson won for her gritty role in Room) Cate Blanchett’s impeccable style did land her a spot on many Best Dressed lists for the night.

This “Young and Beautiful” musician sparkled in an awe inspiring Bulgari bracelet at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Oscar Viewing Party. Her metallic pale pink pleated Vivienne Westwood Couture gown enhanced the beauty of the Art Deco styled diamond bracelet.

Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore had a job most women would have killed for on Oscar Sunday- she presented Leonardo DiCaprio with his first ever Oscar win (Best Actor for The Revenant). Still, it was her jewelry, not her presenting gig, that we were most envious of. The Still Alice star arrived at the 88th Academy Awards in gorgeous statement pieces by Chopard. Between her huge diamond disc earrings and her absolutely massive diamond bracelet, it’s hard to say which piece impressed us the most!

Daisy Ridley

One of the new faces of the massive Star Wars franchise, Daisy Ridley, traded her light saber for gorgeous Chanel jewels! The actress was a vision in a silver gown from Chanel’s Haute Couture collection paired with a Chanel clutch and jewelry. What really caught our attention was her gorgeous diamond bracelet! This is one red carpet look that will certainly stand the test of time.

Watch of the Day: Rose Gold Breguet Marine Royale Alarm

We haven’t spent much time talking about Breguet recently, and it’s about time we changed that! This prestigious watch brand is arguably one of the most impressive among our collection and they also produce one of our favorite men’s rose gold watches, the Breguet Marine Royale Alarm.
This large, 45mm timepiece is made of 18K rose gold with an 18K rose gold bracelet. Already, it’s imposing and impressive. It features a self-winding 519 R calibre movement with 36 jewels and a 45 hour power reserve. The rose-gilded gold dial, which features beautiful blue accents, is engraved on a rose engine. This timepiece features a date display at the 6 o’clock position, an alarm power-reserve indicator, and a self-winding alarm on/off indicator. The dial is covered by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with a sapphire crystal case back allowing you to see into the heart of the movement. A screw down crown provides increased water resistance (up to 30 bar, or 300 meters.)

The gorgeous Breguet Marine Royale Alarm is currently offered in seven different variations, although the one made entirely of rose gold is arguably our favorite. 2016 GnashVegas Event an Overwhelming Success

2016 GnashVegas Casino Night and Charity Auction Brings Big Money for Nashville Predators Foundation

The numbers are in and we’re simply blown away by Nashville’s generosity! King Jewelers hosted the annual GnashVegas Casino Night and Auction at the Bridgestone arena with the NHL Nashville Predators team on February 16th. This event, which lets attendants mingle with players and coaches while also bidding on auction items, benefits the Nashville Predators Foundation. This year, we’re excited to announce that $140,000.00 was raised for the foundation.

We’re so thrilled to have been part of this amazing evening, and are happy to have helped raise money for the Nashville Predators Foundation, which uses proceeds to assist multiple organizations across Middle Tennessee. Harry Winston Midnight Diamond Stalactites

Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it! Today’s featured timepiece is a new one from Harry Winston: the Midnight Diamond Stalactites Automatic. This 36mm ladies timepiece is available in two variations; it is available in white gold on a white satin strap, and in rose gold on a taupe alligator leather strap.

Stalactites are found growing from cave ceilings and are formed over the course of thousands of years as dripping water rich in minerals calcifies. In the image above, stalactites can be seen growing down from the cave ceiling, while stalagmites can be seen growing up from the cave floor.
The Midnight Diamond Stalactites timepieces each feature designs resembling these marvels of nature on the dials. The stalactites on the white gold version (Reference # MIDAHM36WW001) are made of 0.46ct of pink sapphires and 0.17ct of rubies set on a beaded mother-of-pearl dial. The stalactites on the rose gold version (Reference # MIDAHM36RR001) are made of brilliant-cut diamonds set on a Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial.

Each of the Midnight Diamond Stalactites timepieces are equipped with the Harry Winston automatic HW2008 caliber movement which has 28 jewels and 28,800 vibrations per hour. Both versions of this timepiece feature a diamond bezel and diamond lugs, making them even more striking. They each are covered with scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and come with an open sapphire crystal case back, so you can see the movement in action. Neither timepiece features a date display, so as not to detract from the gorgeous stalactites design. Both timepieces are water resistant to 3 bar, or approximately 30 meters.

For a brief time, as the diamond industry boomed and the stone became more readily available, the public perception was that diamonds weren’t rare at all- sapphires, rubies, and emeralds were deemed to be worth far more and were therefore the engagement ring gemstones of choice, if a man was affluent enough to afford them. Today, we know that sapphires really are, in fact, rarer than diamonds, but lower demand means you can procure a beautiful, rare sapphire at a lower cost than a diamond of comparable size.

Without question, the moment that ultimately caused the resurgence in popularity of the sapphire engagement ring came in the 1980s, when England’s Prince Charles presented Lady Diana Spencer with a stunning 18-carat oval cut sapphire flanked by a halo of round cut diamonds. She famously selected it out of a catalog (it retailed for only $60,000.00 at the time!) rather than having a ring custom made. This ring, which was the envy of so many women in the 80s, now sits comfortably on the hand of Kate Middleton, Princess Di’s daughter-in-law. Gorgeous Gems at the 2016 Grammys

The Stars Shined in Oversized Gemstones at the 2016 Grammys

On music’s biggest night, our eyes are glued to the TV to see what gorgeous jewelry the stars will wear on both the red carpet and the stage. This year, celebs seemed to lean towards large statement pieces when it came to jewelry and we were NOT disappointed! Here are just a few of our favorite looks of the night.

Demi Lovato

Not only did she leave us speechless with her rendition of Lionel Richie’s “Hello”, but Demi Lovato also left us open-mouthed with her jewelry choices! Hands down, no contest, she wins our vote for best dressed celebrity of the night! On the red carpet Demi wore a sleek black skirt and jacket combo by Norisol Ferrari paired daringly with a diamond studded body chain and multiple rings by Loree Rodkin.

What really captured our attention, however, was the outfit she wore on stage during the Lionel Richie tribute. The fashion choice was fairly similar- a white tuxedo style jacket with no shirt over a pair of black pants- but the jewelry! Mouawad Jewelry draped the star in a massive triple row diamond necklace with a pear shaped pendant reportedly worth a whopping $2.4 million dollars! She also wore the brand’s Augusta marquise shaped diamond ring, worth another cool $500,000.00, and a trendy diamond ear jacket.

T-Swift shined at last year’s Grammys in a teal dress with fuchsia heels, but her jewelry didn’t blow us away. This year, her Grammys outfit left something to be desired, but we love her jewelry- go figure! Taylor wore a strapless, two piece coral and fuchsia Atelier Versace gown paired with jewelry by Lorraine Schwartz. We were particularly fond of her necklace, a multicolored stunner which bears a striking resemblance to a piece we have in stock now in our Nashville luxury salon! It must have brought her good luck, as she took home three Grammys that night- Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Video for “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar.

Her first performance at the Grammys was absolute perfection, and her red carpet fashion wasn’t too shabby, either! We fell head over heels in love with Andra Day’s diamond and opal earrings, which paired beautifully with a custom jumpsuit by Julie Mollo and a white custom fur designed by Adrienne Landau. Combined with her gorgeous voice, glamorous cat eye and ruby red lips, it’s no surprise she left such an impression on us!
