IWC Unveils Portuguese Annual Calendar

Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, or SIHH for short, is the perfect platform for top timepiece brands to unveil their latest and greatest achievements. We expect to see many great timepieces this January, but we are most excited to finally see IWC’s new Portuguese Annual Calendar.

A New Era

The latest edition of the Portuguese family comes equipped with a new in-house movement, the IWC Caliber 52850, which features an impressive seven-day power reserve. The watch features the month, date, and day via three separate disks at the 12 o’clock position. Unlike a perpetual calendar, which can automatically keep accurate track of every day in the year, an annual calendar needs to be manually set once per year, at the end of February. Luckily, IWC has made this chore extremely easy to accomplish by utilizing the crown instead of adding a separate corrector. A subdial at the 3 o’clock position indicates the power reserve, while the 9 o’clock subdial displays the small seconds.

The watch features a 44.2mm case and is available in 18K rose gold with a silver plated dial, stainless steel with a silver plated dial, and stainless steel with a deep blue dial. The clear sapphire glass caseback allows you to see the automatic movement in action. The strap is black alligator leather with a folding clasp.
