Jaquet Droz’s New Petite Heure Minute Art Deco Watch for Women

At Baselworld Jaquet Droz released a new style of women’s watch featuring a new technique on a white mother-of-pearl dial. The Petite Heure Minute was designed to relive the height of modernism and the Bahaus movement in 1930’s Paris. With its delicately carved dial, this watch summons all of the pizazz of the Roaring Twenties contained within a sophisticated rose gold package.

The white mother-of-pearl was engraved with a style of relief called “Ramolaye.” The moire pattern on the dial is deftly cut out on thick mother-of-pearl. However, mother-of-pearl is also exceedingly fragile and creating the dial for the Petite Heure Minute Art Deco requires special care and patience. The engraving methods for the dial are not unlike carving a cameo. Also, due to the delicate nature of the craft, each mother of pearl dial is entirely unique.

These watches will be issued in a Numerus Clausus, limited to 88 pieces. There will be three version of this watch, rose gold with a brown satin strap (J005013570), white gold with a white satin strap (J005014570), and a pave diamond white gold and black satin strap (J005014571).
