SIHH 2012 Spotlight: IWC Pilot Top Gun Miramar Watch

SIHH has become an opportunity for IWC to remake one of the collections in their beautiful line of watches. Last year’s target was the Portofino collection and, much to the enthusiasm of many watch lovers, this year’s focus is the ever-popular Pilot’s watch collection. The favorite watch this year from IWC’s six new releases is undoubtedly the Top Gun Miramar Watch.

The Top Gun Miramar, named after the former location of the US Navy Fighter Weapons School, is equipped with the brand new in-house Caliber 89365 movement and has a new fly-back chronograph function that measures 60 minutes with a 168 power reserve and date display. The watch capabilities aside, this is one cool looking sport watch in a dark gray ceramic case at a large 48mm in diameter. The military-style dial is a matte gray anthracite with clean beige Arabic numerals. In keeping with the pilot watch feel, the dial also has a cockpit design inspired vertical triple date window and the watch comes with a green canvas textile strap.
