SIHH Spotlight: Jaeger-LeCoultre Deep Sea Chronograph Watch

This year at SIHH 2013 Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces a refreshed Deep Sea Chronograph that follows last year’s model. This model features a three-counter chronograph movement and was created with inspiration from the 1959 Memovox Deep Sea model. This Deep Sea Chronograph incorporates a new high-tech material called cermet. Not to be confused with cement considering this is a divers watch and would most likely take you deeper in the sea than you would prefer.

Cermet is a material that consists of aluminum reinforced with particles of ceramic then followed by a protective coating of ceramic. This unique material gives a very nice matte finish while giving a lightweight and durable function. Inside this advanced casing you can find the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 758 movement.

The red dot on the dial is a feature that allows a diver to quickly see if the chronograph function is ready to use (white), in operation (white/red) or stopped (red). This feature was originally inspired by the Jaeger-LeCoultre 1930’s chronoflight on-board instrument. This new Deep Sea Chronograph also has other vintage inspired pieces such as its tropical hands and hour-markers. The featured strap is made of diver’s fabric to reinforce its function as well maintaining a clean and sharp appearance.
