Breitling, a leader in aviation and aviator’s watches, celebrated the new Navitimer 8 collection at a star-studded event in New York City. Over 300 guests from across the globe were welcomed by Breitling’s new CEO, Georges Kern, and introduced to a stunning new line of pilot’s watches. Lucky attendees were also privy to the first exhibition of vintage Breitling timepieces in North America. The 60 vintage timepieces displayed at the event demonstrated the many horological advancements Breitling has contributed to the timepiece industry throughout their history.

Raymond Weil has long been a supporter of the music industry, with special edition watches dedicated to Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, David Bowie, and Bob Marley, among others. It’s no surprise that the brand eventually pursued a partnership with Gibson Guitars, juggernaut of the music industry and leading manufacturer of guitars. With Gibson’s ties to Nashville and the city’s reigning status of Music City USA, it makes sense that King Jewelers, the authorized Raymond Weil dealer in Nashville, would feature heavily in the promotion of the product.
The Raymond Weil and Gibson Guitars partnership has since yielded two Gibson watches; the Nabucco Nashville edition, based off the Gibson SG Standard, was debuted to much fanfare at an exclusive party hosted by King Jewelers in 2015, and now a Freelancer inspired by the Gibson Les Paul has been released to even greater acclaim. To further investigate what makes this partnership tick, Editor-in-Chief of Revolution USA Keith Strandberg visited Nashville to see what all the fuss was about.

On October 4th, 2017, King Jewelers Nashville hosted the first Rolex event in Nashville in over a decade. Attendees were treated to a special Daytona-themed event, which highlighted the highly sought-after timepiece. Guests were able to try on and purchase extremely rare timepieces which were brought in specifically for the event. Rolex representatives were available to answer any questions over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.
The event also served as the kick-off to a year of celebration honoring King Jewelers’ 10th anniversary at the Nashville location. Since 1912, the King family has provided their clientele with the best service and selection in the industry, and they’re thrilled to celebrate a decade of service in the Nashville area. With only 500 watches made worldwide, and less than 100 slated for availability in the US, this is a very rare and exciting timepiece available to Nashville area watch collectors.

The Navitimer DC-3 has an automatic movement contained within a 46mm stainless steel case. The black dial features silver subdials and is covered by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The case back is inscribed with “Breitling DC-3 World Tour 2017”. The brown leather strap has a tang buckle. This watch is water resistant to 3 bars.

Breitling has long been known for its passion for aviation and adventure. To further that passion, the brand sponsored the restoration of a DC-3 plane, one of just 150 that are still operational. Each of the 500 Navitimer DC-3 timepieces produced were placed aboard this Breitling DC-3 plane which then went on a tour of the world earlier this year.
