Men aren’t the only ones who love watches. Ladies watches have come a long way since the dainty timepieces of their grandmothers. Now women’s watches have heft, complications, high-tech materials, and most of all, extraordinary quality. If you’re looking to give the lady in your life a watch this holiday season, below are our suggestions for beautiful timepieces that won’t break the bank.
1) TAG Heuer Formula 1 Ceramic Watch ref. WAH1210.BA0859 – msrp $1800TAG Heuer’s first experiment with combining ceramic and stainless steel has been wildly successful. Women are growing in number as part of TAG Heuer’s fan base and this ladies Formula 1 is a fantastic response to that. The matte scratch resistant ceramic and the polished steel make for a dramatic look that is easily worn from day to night. The average case size for women’s watches used to be 34mm, but lately this trend seems to be leaning in the other direction as this watch has a size of 37mm with a quartz movement.
2) Chopard Imperiale Stainless Steel Watch ref. 388541-3002 – msrp $5600The Imperiale watches are a sumptuous collection made only for women. This watch in particular has a regal appearance with the classic Roman numerals on the mother of pearl dial and blade shaped hands to indicate the time. Within the supple 28mm stainless steel case is a quartz movement. This watch is filled with small details like the cabochon jewel set in the watch crown and the delicately lattice engraved center of the dial. This is definitely an elegant watch for the modern woman.
This year has been the year of the Tank for Cartier after they introduced a new member of this popular family. This Tank in particular is extraordinarily Jacqueline Kennedy in nature. Although Jackie wore a Cartier Tank Louis, this watch has a similar aesthetic with the black leather strap and classic black Roman numerals on a white dial. The Tank Solo has a quartz movement and Cartier’s famous sword-shaped hands. For any fashionista who lists Jackie O. as one of their fashion icons, this watch is a must.
4) Chanel J12 White & Pink Sapphire Ceramic Watch ref. H2010 – $11700This particular Chanel watch just made a comeback this year after being unavailable for the last few years. The pink sapphires on the bezel give this J12 a playful look and there are additional diamond indicators on a mother of pearl dial. After all, who doesn’t want more sparkle on their watch? The diameter of the watch is 33mm with a quartz movement packed into a sturdy white high-tech ceramic case.
Frederique Constant excels at creating a big look in a watch for a low cost. The Slim Line watch is particularly beautiful and we love the combination of rose gold paired with the chocolate brown satin strap. The stainless steel case is 37mm with a quartz movement but that bezel is a solid (not plated!) 18 karat rose gold set with pave diamonds. The slender case also makes this watch easy to wear and those Roman numerals make it an instant classic.
