Jaquet Droz SW Chrono Côtes de Genève in Miami, Florida: A closer look at the sporty Jaquet Droz

This week on Collector’s Corner, we try on the beautiful Jaquet Droz SW Chrono Côtes de Genève at our Aventura location. Jaquet Droz are well known in developing instantly recognizable and respectable timepieces. Traditionally most of the aesthetics of their timepieces seem to be fit with classic and luxurious features while presenting signature dials. However the SW collection has pushed the boundaries of the modern and sporty segment of the brand. The SW Chronograph Côtes de Genève takes a step further and explores sporty design features by adding an extremely attractive blue alligator strap and a beautiful new blue dial.

The new dial features the Côtes de Genève pattern in a striking bright blue color (Also available in Gray) while the rest of the watch utilizes subtle whites and stainless steel to maintain a strong masculine appeal. Also on the dial are two subdials that include a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. The elegant double framed date can be found at it’s unique 12 o’clock position. The case is made of stainless steel and measures 45mm in diameter. The finely detailed crown and push buttons feature rubber cast much like the rest of the collection. This timepiece has a 40 hour power reserve utilizing the 6885-S, self-winding mechanical movement with ruthenium treatment, and a finely detailed 18kt white gold oscillating rotor. The JD logo engraved buckle is a strong and elegant stainless steel folding clasp that feels like a sports watch while giving a comfortable and snug fit. The SW Chronograph Côtes de Genève watch seems to still lean towards the luxury side which is maintains the brands perception has a horophiles collector piece.
