Leather vs. Bracelet
Watches on leather straps tend to look more casual than those on steel or gold bracelets, are easier to adjust for size, and are generally considered more comfortable after consistent wear. However, as leather is a natural product, it is going to eventually wear out and need to be replaced- especially if she’s wearing lotion or perfume on a regular basis or if she gets it wet. Steel or gold bracelets are more durable and will provide her with more flexibility for wear. A bracelet can be dressed up for a fancy event, or dressed down for jeans and a t-shirt. Added bonus- you can have confidence in knowing that a watch on a bracelet will match any outfit she wears; buy a watch on a fashionable red leather strap and you run into the problem of it clashing with any outfit she wants to wear that’s pink, green, orange, yellow, etc.
Size
This one’s tricky, as a watch can look completely different based on the woman’s wrist size- a watch that’s considered “average” sized may look huge on someone with small wrists or minuscule on someone with larger wrists. A good question to ask yourself- is she planning to wear the watch as a bold piece of statement jewelry, or as an everyday accessory to blend with other pieces? If it’s going to be a bold statement, go with something around 34 or 36mm, if not larger. For a more blend-able accessory, go 32mm or smaller.
Classic or Trendy?
Pay attention guys, because this is probably the most important part of buying your lady a watch. Every girl’s style is different, and while some want to be right on track with the hottest trends and accessories, others gravitate towards pieces that are a little more subtle but are ALWAYS going to be in fashion.
