In the box you find the interface which consists of hands, discs, dial and the automatic Myiota 82S7 movement, dubbed “the small truck”, and considered a tireless caliber. The indicators are designed and arranged to bring the complexity of the movement to the surface. The dial alone is made of 5 separate pieces and layers with eleven different applications. Roger Dubuis Introduces the New Action Inspired Pulsion Watch Collection

Earlier this year Roger Dubuis had began a new series of unique timepieces that characterizes itself by representing its individual world that it derives from. There is a collection called the Excalibur collection which represents a universe of knights and dragons. For the casino aficionado there is the Monegasque collection that represents the games of the powerful intellectuals. For the ladies they have recreated a fairytale world turned dark and ominous with hidden secrets and mysteries which is represented very well by the Velvet collection.

Recently Roger Dubuis introduced the Pulsion. The Pulsion represents a new action packed world of lasers, spies, and thrilling heists. This is the timepiece that pushes its design elements and experiments very well with its structure and material. One of the first thing you will notice in this collection that truly distinguishes itself is the unique sapphire crystal. It is screwed down and extends over the sides of the case to serve as the bezel as well. The case is still water resistant up to 100 meters and the numerals are easy to read and seem to be engraved underneath the crystal and enhanced with a luminescent material.

The 44mm wide Pulsion conforms very nicely to your wrist with the comfortable rubber strap. Although there does not seem to be a metal bracelet option, the rubber straps are uniquely offered in alternating finishes. The Pulsion case itself it offered in a titanium version and a 18k rose gold option. There are a total of 2 different versions of the Pulsion with different movements currently being offered for 2012. Two of which contain the very well known super skeletonized caliber RD505SQ which is a manually wound flying tourbillon movement and the other two containing the standard chronograph movement RD680 which can also be found in other models such as the Monegasque. The chronograph Pulsion will be available in three models with two in titanium (one with black DLC coating) and the third in 18k rose gold. Both of these movements are bare the Seal of Geneva and are COSC certified.

Prestigious Poinçon de Genève Seal Updates Criteria for Watch Manufactures

Most people may know that some of the finest watches made are produced in Switzerland. Geneva is Switzerland’s second most populated city and is also the city that has created one of the highest standards in horology. There are over 20 million watches produced in Switzerland each year, but only 24,000 have the standards of The Poinçon de Genève.
The Poinçon de Genève which translates to “The Punch of Geneva” is used as a hallmark stamp to signify a certification earned by watch manufacturers. It’s a seal of approval to rigorous criterias and standards such as manual decoration of the watch components and committing to performing the assembly and adjustment of their timepieces exclusively in Geneva. This is a certification and a seal that guarantees the quality of the work performed.

The Poinçon de Genève recently has updated their criteria that a watch manufacturer must follow in order to get the certification. The new interior movement and exterior aesthetic regulation has 12 criterias that includes 7 conception criteria and 5 aesthetic criterias. These specific criterias include precise specifications on the origin of the parts, construction, materials, and even the finishing. The new aesthetic criteria demands standards such as; steel parts must feature polished angles, sides drawn out with a file and visible surfaces smoothed down, wheels must be chamfered with polished sinks, screw heads must be polished with their slots and rims chamfered. All of the criteria seems very precise and strict. Even the nature of the stud serving to pin up the balance-spring is regulated.

There are also updates to the performance criteria as well. The new regulations must follow a 7 day watch control. These series of tests include water resistance, power reserve, functions, and chronometry.

TAG Heuer's Carrera 1887 "SpaceX" Limited Edition: The First Watch in Space

TAG Heuer releases the Carrera 1887 SpaceX, a limited edition timepiece to mark the 50th anniversary of TAG Heuer (originally Heuer) as the first Swiss timepiece to be worn in space. The original TAG Heuer was worn by astronaut John Glenn in 1962. He had worn a modified Heuer 2915A stopwatch.
Although the new Carrera SpaceX is based on TAG’s standard 1887 Carrera it features some impressive attributes to commemorate the historical event. The watch hands are custom and have quite a resemblance to the 1962 stop watch. The dial is starch white with anthracite colored hour markers that match the custom hands. The numbers on the dial also have a vintage look as mirrored on John Glenn’s watch. The watch is finally fitted perfectly with a brown perforated strap that seems to satisfy the modern but old school taste.

Inside the watch it houses the powerful in-house caliber 1887 that is semi-visible through the smoked-sapphire case back. Also on the case back you can find the SpaceX logo and SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch rocket and the Dragon spacecraft which also found on the dial of the watch as well. This piece is limited to 2,012 pieces and expected to be priced around $5,800 and should be available this October 2012.

Breitling's New Sports Model: The Bentley Barnato 42 Midnight Carbon Watch

The Bentley Barnato is named after the most famous of the “Bentley Boys” who had acquired no less than 5 victories in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race between 1924 and 1930. Barnato is also named for an exceptional series of watches for men that embrace both superlative style and peerless performance made by Breitling. Breitling for Bentley has recently introduced a new sportier model in the Barnato series, a black-clad sports model called the Bentley Barnato 42 Midnight Carbon with only a 1,000 piece limited edition.

From its case that is made of highly resistant steel with a carbon-based treatment to its sturdy rubber strap, the new Barnato watch is dressed completely in black. The instrument panel on the dial is reinforced by chromed steel-rimmed counters, features vibrant red accents while the inner bezel mimics a tachometric scale. The generous size of the bezel heightens the effect of the raised knurled motif that was inspired by the famous Bentley radiator grilles. Also enlarged are the hour markers on the dial which makes it easy to ready no matter what speed you are traveling.

This limited edition watch is powered by a selfwinding Calibre 25B chronograph movement. Chronometer-certified by the COSC(Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). Which in our books that makes this watch pretty credible and reliable.
