Fall 2017 Bridal Trends

Fall 2017 Bridal Trends

Today we’d like to discuss a few of Fall 2017’s most exciting bridal trends. Brides are looking to get back to basics this season- look for simpler settings, alternative gemstone center stones, and colored gemstone accents to dominate the bridal jewelry scene.
pear shaped engagement ring

Say Goodbye to the Halo

Halo engagement rings (particularly featuring cushion shaped center stones) reigned supreme for years, but their popularity is slowly but surely ebbing away. For Fall 2017 and beyond, Solitaire engagement rings will be the hot ticket. Brides are looking for a more traditional, simple setting that will let their center stone shine. But don’t be fooled, a simple setting doesn’t mean a small ring! Most brides are looking at solitaires with large center stones, particularly pear shaped stones.
Blue Sapphire Engagement Ring

Something Blue

Brides are bringing the “something blue” tradition into their engagement rings and wedding bands with increasing regularity. Fancy shaped sapphire side stones provide a unique and beautiful accent to your center diamond. Sylvie, the engagement ring designed by a woman for a woman, allows brides and their partners to customize their engagement ring. Want the center stone to be a sapphire? They can do that! Saw an all-diamond engagement ring that you think would look even more beautiful if some of those diamonds were swapped for sapphires? No problem! Make your ring as unique as your love story. Talk to your sales associate about your wide range of Sylvie engagement ring customization options.
Right Hand Wedding Band

Mix & Match and Stack, Stack, Stack!

When you think of a ladies wedding band, you probably think of a ring that matches her engagement ring perfectly and sits as flush as possible against her engagement ring. For Fall 2017, look for brides to not only choose a wedding band that is a totally different style than their engagement ring, but to also choose a band designed to wear on their opposite hand! Many brides find that their desired wedding band is too wide and doesn’t sit as comfortably against their engagement ring as they’d like, so they’re choosing to wear these larger bands (or multiple smaller stacked bands) on their other hand.
Yellow Gold Engagement Ring

All That Glitters is Gold

You probably remember your mother or grandmother’s jewelry drawer being filled with yellow gold baubles. The tendency towards yellow gold engagement rings died out in the 90s and was never quite at the same level of popularity… until now. Yellow gold jewelry not only compliments most skin tones, it makes for a beautiful contrast with many gemstones. Expect to see your friends sporting yellow gold engagement rings and wedding bands in Fall 2017 and beyond.
Diamond Slice Alternative Engagement Ring

Slice of Paradise

Diamond slices and rose cut diamonds are slowly but surely taking over in both the bridal and fashion jewelry world. For the woman who wants something a little more natural and a lot more unique when it comes to her engagement ring, a diamond slice engagement ring is oftentimes the perfect solution. As an added bonus, diamond slice rings are often far more affordable than traditional diamond rings.

Celebrate Your Anniversary with an Eternity Band

Celebrate Your Love on That Special Anniversary With a Diamond Eternity Band

When it comes to your special milestone anniversary, there’s no gift more special than the gift of a diamond eternity band. Also known as anniversary bands, these rings feature beautiful diamonds set all the way around the band in a never-ending circle. This is symbolic of the enduring and eternal love you share with your partner.
At our luxury salons in Nashville, TN and Aventura, FL, we have no shortage of eternity bands available in all shapes, sizes, and budgets. Today, we’re focusing on a few of our favorite diamond anniversary rings that are sure to make your wife fall in love with you all over again.
KJ5 Platinum Emerald Cut Diamond Eternity Band
There are a wide array of possibilities when it comes to choosing an eternity band, but for major anniversaries (your 25th or 50th anniversary, for example) we recommend an anniversary band like the one shown above. This platinum ring from our private KJ5 collection is set with 16 stunning certified emerald cut diamonds all the way around the band. It has a total diamond weight of 8.58ct. This stunning emerald cut diamond eternity band can be paired with her engagement ring, but is impressive enough to be worn on its own.
Memoire Classic Round Diamond Eternity Ring
If a ring of that size is just a little too much for her taste, we’d suggest this classic round diamond eternity band by Memoire. With more and more brides choosing engagement rings with thinner, more feminine bands, an anniversary ring like this one is a surefire hit. Wear it stacked on the other side of her engagement ring to complement her existing wedding band. Rings like this one are available in a variety of different metal colors and diamond sizes, and our knowledgeable and friendly sales associates are happy to help you select the ring that best fits her taste and your budget.
Fancy Yellow Diamond Eternity Band
If your wife appreciates the finer things in life, explore our collection of fancy colored diamond eternity rings and anniversary bands. Our selection of fancy yellow diamond eternity bands is particularly exceptional. For a more traditional choice, look for round canary diamond anniversary rings like this one from our KJ5 collection.
She’s been by your side through all of life’s ups and downs; show your wife that she’s your eternal partner with a diamond eternity band to celebrate your anniversary.

How to Tell if a Diamond is Loose in Your Ring

How To Tell If Your Diamond is Loose

How to Determine if a Diamond is Loose in Your Engagement Ring or Wedding Band

It’s something most women fear- what will they do if a diamond comes loose and falls out of their engagement ring? Luckily, it’s an easy fix, especially if you catch it before a diamond goes missing!
The easiest way to tell if you have a loose diamond in your engagement ring or wedding band is to simply hold it up to your ear and shake it a little bit! It might sound crazy, but it’s true- a loose stone will make an audible rattling sound when you shake the ring next to your ear. If you hear that tell-tale rattle, bring your ring into your local jeweler straight away. Any jeweler with an onsite jeweler should be able to tighten your prongs and secure your stone in no time at all.
Unfortunately, diamonds do sometimes fall out, especially with the extremely popular micro-pavé style setting which women are choosing so frequently these days. The settings are beautiful because that style of setting shows very little metal, but that comes at a cost. You see so little metal around the diamonds because there is so little metal, and without enough metal securing your accent diamonds, it’s almost inevitable that they’ll fall out or become loose at some point down the road. To that end, King Jewelers offers one of the most comprehensive ring warranties in the industry. We know you don’t always have time to bring your ring in for scheduled check-ups, so it’s not a requirement for our warranty, although we do recommend you bring the ring in to one of our stores for a free cleaning and check ups at your convenience. If an accent diamond does fall out of your engagement ring, rest assured that we’ll replace it for free.

Deal of the Week: Memoire Proposal Ready Engagement Ring

Deal of the Week: 18K Yellow Gold Proposal Ready Memoire Engagement Ring

This week’s Deal of the week is a beautiful 18K yellow gold proposal ready engagement ring by Memoire. We talk a lot about Proposal Ready engagement rings, or rings that are sold as 100% completed pieces, diamond, mounting, and all. While the price of a Proposal Ready engagement ring is all encompassing, a semi-mount engagement ring is a mounting that’s sold separately from the center diamond. There are pros and cons to each way of shopping, and we explain the reasons why further in this blog, but the main benefit to purchasing a proposal ready engagement ring is timing. If you’re short on time (say, your anniversary is right around the corner and you have your heart set on proposing to her on that special day,) a proposal ready engagement ring is usually available to pick up same-day. The process of choosing a specific diamond to go with a semi-mount engagement ring and then setting that stone could take much longer.
This unique engagement ring doesn’t look anything like the split shank, oval diamond halo engagement rings that are currently dominating everyone’s Pinterest page. It’s the perfect choice for the woman who wouldn’t want her engagement ring to look just like her sister’s, best friend’s, and hairdresser’s rings. 18K yellow gold is a classic metal choice; it requires less maintenance than white gold (which must be rhodium plated every so often to maintain it’s white color), and is more affordable than platinum. The bezel set diamonds form a floral pattern, lending an air of vintage elegance to the overall design.

Explore Even More Proposal Ready Engagement Rings Here!

This engagement ring is also available in 18K rose or 18K white gold, if yellow gold isn’t to her taste. For a limited time, these engagement rings are available for 25% off! A proposal ready engagement ring for less than $900? Sign us up! Learn more about this ring, or order it online, by visiting our website.
Prices listed on the Deal of the Week are only applicable 5 days from the time of posting and only while supplies last. Orders placed by 12:00pm noon on Wednesday are scheduled to arrive by Friday via FREE Fed-Ex 2 day shipping. Forces outside of King Jewelers control such as inclement weather may affect delivery time. All packages require recipient be present to sign for them at time of delivery.

Stunning Sapphire Engagement Rings

Dare to be Different With a Sapphire Engagement Ring

Despite what some cynics would have you believe, the custom of exchanging rings to solidify an engagement has been around long before De Beers forever changed the diamond industry. Evidence suggests that men have been presenting their bride to be with a ring to symbolize their commitment as far back as the 1400s, if not earlier.
Inevitably, fashion trends change over the years and what we think of when someone says “engagement ring” may differ entirely from what was popular decades previously. Back before platinum and diamonds were the norm when it came to engagement rings, many women had simple gold bands featuring blue sapphires. The trend dates back to the Roman Empire, when religious leaders believed that a sapphire ring would change color if the wearer was untrue to their beloved.

We offer a wide variety of sapphire engagement rings

Discover Your Bridal Style Now!

For a brief time, as the diamond industry boomed and the stone became more readily available, the public perception was that diamonds weren’t rare at all- sapphires, rubies, and emeralds were deemed to be worth far more and were therefore the engagement ring gemstones of choice, if a man was affluent enough to afford them. Today, we know that sapphires really are, in fact, rarer than diamonds, but lower demand means you can procure a beautiful, rare sapphire at a lower cost than a diamond of comparable size.

Without question, the moment that ultimately caused the resurgence in popularity of the sapphire engagement ring came in the 1980s, when England’s Prince Charles presented Lady Diana Spencer with a stunning 18-carat oval cut sapphire flanked by a halo of round cut diamonds. She famously selected it out of a catalog (it retailed for only $60,000.00 at the time!) rather than having a ring custom made. This ring, which was the envy of so many women in the 80s, now sits comfortably on the hand of Kate Middleton, Princess Di’s daughter-in-law. Decades later, this ring is still what comes to mind when you mention sapphire engagement rings. It’s timeless style appeals to an extremely large audience, and while 80s fashion isn’t necessarily our favorite, we’re confident this particular piece will never go out of style.
Would you forego the classic diamond engagement ring for something with a little more character? Is your Pinterest board overrun with beautiful blue sapphires? Leading the Pack: 3 Designers Who Are Revolutionizing the Bridal Industry

As the year comes to a close, we’re taking time to reflect on 2015’s best bridal jewelry and style trends. Earlier this week, we talked about the year’s most popular engagement ring styles, and today we’re taking a closer look at the top designers behind those magical bridal looks.

1) Furrer-Jacot

For couples seeking wedding rings of exceptional quality and attention to detail, it is very difficult to find a bridal jewelry designer that truly stands out as most ring collections tend to look rather similar while offering few unique creations. Furrer Jacot, manufacturer of handmade Swiss wedding bands, is separating itself from the pack by simply designing the finest hand-crafted wedding bands in the world. Available for both men and women, these bands are made to last for a lifetime. The brand show their dedicated to FJ owners by offering complimentary engravings, a lifetime warranty, and the ability to laser engrave your beloved’s fingerprint on the inside of your wedding band. Seriously, how cool is that?

With the claim of individuality, authenticity, creativity, and exclusivity, Furrer Jacot has emerged as a leader in creating diamond rings, carbon fiber rings, wedding bands, and engagement rings. With a rich history dating back to 1858, Furrer-Jacot has been producing premium jewelry and wedding bands according to the highest quality standards of Swiss craftsmanship. Each piece is made to order and individually crafted. Amazing quality is one of the most important values in the company’s culture.
The source of raw materials is the key element for outstanding quality of their finished products. Furrer-Jacot uses only high-quality platinum, gold and palladium alloys. The compressed precious metals guarantee maximum density, an absence of pores, pits and fissures, and help ensure a durable and pleasant feeling when worn. To feel the quality, Furrer-Jacot suggests that you try on a ring to experience the “Furrer-Jacot wearing comfort”. It’s no surprise that Furrer-Jacot’s designer-in-chief Lucas Ruppli is a winner of the renowned Diamonds International Award and continues to amaze brides and grooms with exceptional designs of extraordinary quality. Top 5 Bridal Trends of 2015

David King Assesses the Top Bridal Trends of 2015

Sylvie_Oval_Bridal_Trend
This Sylvie semi-mount engagement ring is meant to hold an east-west oval diamond center stone.

1. Ovals Aren’t Just for Race Car Drivers

Every motor enthusiast can tell you about their love for an oval track and screaming engines full of adrenaline, but brides might be the biggest fans of ovals these days as recent sales and demand have overwhelmed the bridal diamond industry. Fancy-shape diamonds have trended into popular favor over the last few years as brides seek unique styles and a bigger overall look for their budgets. For quite some time brides have gravitated towards elongated cushions, radiants, and emerald-cuts, which are still in high demand, yet we’ve seen a shift towards the oval diamond as the hottest trending diamond shape.
So why the sudden interest in oval diamonds? In our opinion it has to do with the tremendous amount of face-up, surface area and their beautiful curves. Imagine taking a round diamond and stretching it to the elongated size that you really desire. Some brilliance is sacrificed when compared to a round diamond, but it still has the feel of the round curves with the added bonus of a much greater surface area. A one-carat oval diamond can visually appear 20% larger then a one-carat round diamond while still costing 20% less just because of the shape. Round diamonds are the most expensive diamond cut and they consistently have the highest demand, as nearly 85% of engagement rings feature a round stone.
The KING Verdict: We still love our exotic cars but we really love fancy-shape oval diamonds!!! And if you’re up for something different, consider setting an oval sideways, or as we call it “east-west,” for a truly unique bridal style.

Norman_Silverman_Double_Halo_Bridal_Trend
This Norman Silverman complete engagement ring features a cushion cut center diamond and is one of our most popular double-halo styles

2. Double Trouble All Around

No, this is not a cheesy spin on a bubble gum commercial. Instead, we’re focusing on the growing popularity of the double-halo engagement ring. While the single-halo trend revolutionized the diamond bridal industry over the last ten years, the double-halo style started appearing in designer collections and leading bridal magazines just a few years ago. Since that time, it has evolved with the popularity of diamond halo jewelry overall.
As the halo style grew in favor with brides over the years, the price of diamonds increased dramatically. This ultimately led to the birth of the double-halo as couples, based on their determined budget and desired look, faced the dilemma of either purchasing a larger diamond of lesser quality or a smaller diamond with better specifications. For brides that desired a finer diamond and a larger look at a price they could afford, the double-halo became a natural and brilliant solution. Today, double halo engagement rings are available in a range of styles, from modern to vintage, which complement either round or fancy-shape diamonds, regardless of size.
The KING Verdict: Two thumbs up for the double halo!! This trending style has allowed shoppers to focus more on diamond quality and cut, instead of just the size. The result has been a multitude of happy brides with whiter and brighter center diamonds, which look huge and are also affordable. Pro-Tip: try on a platinum engagement ring with a rose gold double halo set with diamonds. The two-tone coloring will really set your ring apart and the contrast between the halo and the shank will look beautiful.

3. Winter Roses Continue to Bloom

It may be getting a bit chillier outside as we prepare for our holiday festivities, but the warmth of rose gold continues to keep our brides cozy and obsessed. From Pinterest to the Knot, bridal media has focused heavily on rose gold jewelry designs over the last two years, resulting in a greater demand from brides and a plethora of new styles to choose from today. The rose color hue is still trending across our industry and it’s only getting hotter as time goes by. Rose gold seems to have overtaken yellow gold in the bridal world and we don’t see that trend ending anytime soon. From leading Swiss watch brands like Rolex and Cartier, to jewelry designers such as Roberto Coin and Mikimoto, we continue to see the growth and popularity of rose gold spread across all fashion types including designer handbags and shoes.
The KING Verdict: Traditionally we prefer the whiteness of platinum or white gold for colorless diamonds as it makes them shine the brightest, but rose gold has really grown on us over the years. Keep in mind that the rose color will cast a pinkish hue into the center diamond, so you might consider setting the center diamond into a white metal basket within the rose gold mounting to keep your diamond shining brightly.

This Precision Set engagement ring features a diamond set triple split shank for added drama

4. The Split is a Hit

We have always loved a great banana split, admired a fancy dance split, and desperately prayed for a Kanye-Kim split, but all the recent hype revolves around brides who are falling in love with split-shank diamond engagement rings. By definition, a split shank ring is where the upper portion of the band (also known as a shank) splits into two or three separate bands that help support larger center stones. Bridal designers have lovingly and creatively embraced the split design into a diverse offering of beautiful engagement rings. Most split-shank rings are modern and brilliant in style, providing an elegant appearance with an open depth. They’re perfect for the popular (yet delicate) micropave rings that brides really love.
The KING Verdict: LOVE! A well designed split-shank ring can be gorgeous if done subtly with the proper proportions. We particularly love split-shank engagement rings with elongated fancy-shape diamonds such as ovals and cushions, round diamonds larger than 1.50 carats, or with 1 carat or larger diamonds set in a double-halo mounting.

Forevermark_Ever_Us_Two_Stone_Bridal_Trend
Forevermark’s Ever Us(TM) engagement ring is leading the new two-stone engagement ring trend

5. It Still Takes Two to Tango

This engagement season, several leading diamond brands and bridal designers launched a new diamond engagement ring concept with unique two-stone diamond ring collections. News of the two diamond campaign has dominated recent media with Forevermark, a subsidiary of the DeBeers Group, leading the way with the release of the Ever Us(TM) Two-Stone Diamond Ring. Through an aggressive national television campaign augmented with print and digital media advertisements, Forevermark communicates the message behind this trending new style: “One diamond for your best friend. One diamond for your true love.” While two-stone rings and jewelry predominately feature round brilliant-cut diamonds set in a bypass style, designs are also available with different stone arrangements in a range of sizes and metal colors.
The KING Verdict: While we’re still not sold on this new engagement ring concept, we’ll ultimately let the future brides be the final judge.
So what do you think? Did your favorite bridal trend of 2015 make our list? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for the latest news on trending jewelry and watches.
