Breitling, a leader in aviation and aviator’s watches, celebrated the new Navitimer 8 collection at a star-studded event in New York City. Over 300 guests from across the globe were welcomed by Breitling’s new CEO, Georges Kern, and introduced to a stunning new line of pilot’s watches. Lucky attendees were also privy to the first exhibition of vintage Breitling timepieces in North America. The 60 vintage timepieces displayed at the event demonstrated the many horological advancements Breitling has contributed to the timepiece industry throughout their history.

Navitimer 8 pays tribute to the Huit Aviation Department, so named by Willy Breitling in 1938 for the 8-day power reserve offered by their cockpit instruments (“Huit” is the French word for “eight”.)

This new collection of pilot’s watches take much of its inspiration from the Breitling cockpit instruments of the past and from classic vintage Breitling timepieces. Dial Painting with Jaquet Droz

King Jewelers Aventura Hosts Exciting Dial Painting Event with Jaquet Droz

Perfect weather, beautiful timepieces, and great spirits were all in attendance at King Jewelers’ Jaquet Droz event. Held at Perricone’s Marketplace and Café in the heart of downtown Miami, the setting could not have been more perfect for the type of event it was. A lush, plant filled wall surrounded the closed wooden deck creating a comfortable, indoor event with an outdoors experience. The night began gently with curious chatter and deep discussion, but quickly lead to heartfelt laughter accompanied by a warm connection between attendees.

A key piece of Jaquet Droz’ rich history lies in the inclusion of fine, delicately painted artworks on the dials themselves. These images are hand painted by Jaquet Droz’ own in house artists and can take up to 3 days for 1 dial to be painted. Attendees of the event were given a chance to take a crack at becoming watch dial artists by painting their very own Jaquet Droz dial. With good people (and great wine), a process that is normally tedious and lengthy became nothing short of entertaining and memorable.

Aside from dial painting, attendees were able to learn of the history behind Jaquet Droz as well as have the opportunity of meeting with one of their very own dial painters.

All in all, it was a night of fun, elegance, and unique timepieces celebrating the iconic watchmaking of the legendary Jaquet Droz brand. This celebration of craftsmanship is what King Jewelers prides itself on. The event was a true testament to a mutually positive relationship between watchmaker and authorized dealer. Through unity, came timelessness.

Whisky fanatics rejoice! Louis Moinet has once again created a stunning watch that redefines everything we think we know about haute horology. After the success of the previous Rum Watch and Cognac Watch from the Spirit Watches Line, Wealth Solutions turned to Louis Moinet to create the limited edition Whisky Watch, a timepiece containing a drop of the oldest whisky in the world.

Louis Moinet Stainless Steel Whisky Watch — The Louis Moinet Whisky Watch is limited to 40 pieces in Stainless Steel

Louis Moinet, inventor of the chronograph, outfitted the Whisky Watch with the LM45 automatic movement. The frequency of the balance is 28,800 vph (4Hz) and the movement contains 22 jewels. The watch is a limited edition with just 50 pieces being produced.

Louis Moinet 18K Rose Gold Whisky Watch — The Louis Moinet Whisky Watch is limited to just 10 pieces worldwide in 18K Rose Gold

Ten watches will be available with an 18K rose gold case and 40 watches will be available with a stainless steel case. The Whisky Watch features a three level dial with applied open-work hour-markers and an exclusive whisky capsule at the 3 o’clock position.

The unique whisky capsule contains a drop of the oldest whisky in the world, Old Vatted Glenlivit 1862. Sukhinder Singh, a noted collector of rare alcohol, donated one bottle of Old Vatted Glenlivit 1862 specifically for this purpose, and the bottle was opened in a ceremony in Poland last month. It was fitting to reveal this extremely luxurious timepiece at the Singapore Yacht Show, which caters to connoisseurs of yachts, supercars, and more.

TUDOR Reveals 4 New Variations of the Ever-Popular Heritage Black Bay Timepiece at Baselworld 2017

Early this morning, watch afficionados were glued to their smartphones and computer screens as Switzerland’s most prestigious watch brands began releasing their new timepieces for Baselworld 2017. TUDOR, sister brand to Rolex, certainly didn’t disappoint, surprising fans with 4 new variations of their extremely popular Heritage Black Bay timepiece.

TUDOR Heritage Black Bay Chronograph

The first, and arguably most exciting, announcement from TUDOR this morning was the addition of a chronograph to the Black Bay lineup. The 41mm steel Black Bay Chronograph has the first in-house chronograph movement (Manufacture Calibre MT5813, COSC) from TUDOR, so it’s sure to become a collectors item in the future. The watch will be available either on a riveted steel bracelet ($5,050) or a brown leather strap ($4,725) and each variation will come with TUDOR’s signature additional fabric strap, as shown in the above photo.

TUDOR Heritage Black Bay 41

At Baselworld 2017, TUDOR builds off the popularity of their newly released 36mm unisex Black Bay model by offering the same slimmer case and simpler design by offering the same aesthetic in a larger 41mm mode. This version of the Black Bay should appeal to the more business-orientated man, and at just $2,950 it makes the perfect graduation gift.

To appeal to a wider audience, TUDOR is now offering their classic Black Bay in a steel and gold (hence, S&G) variation. The new S&G model also features a date window at the 3 o’clock position, another new feature for the Black Bay. The Black Bay S&G will be available on a two-tone bracelet ($4,975), as shown in the image above, or on an aged black leather strap ($3,775).

The final new introduction in the Black Bay lineup unveiled at Baselworld 2017 is the Black Bay Steel, an all-steel version with a brushed steel bezel. Like the S&G model, this Black Bay also comes equipped with a new date display window at the 3 o’clock position. It will be available either on a steel bracelet ($3,800) or a distressed black leather strap ($3,475) and each variation comes with an additional green fabric strap, shown in the above photo.

Harry Winston Debuts New Avenue Classic Cherry Blossom Timepiece, Inspired by the Beauty of the Japanese Cherry Blossom, Ahead of Baselworld 2017

Harry Winston has set our hearts aflutter with their latest creation inspired by the natural beauty of the Japanese cherry blossom: the Avenue Classic Cherry Blossom.
The blooming of the sakura cherry blossom tree is a cherished cultural event in Japan. Every year, people gather at the base of cherry trees to hold hanami, or a flower-viewing festivals, when the beloved pink and white flowers bloom. The brief blooming of the cherry blossom flowers represent the coming of spring, or new beginnings, and also serve as a reminder of the short but precious time we each have on this earth.

The brand expertly utilizes the natural iridescence of the pale green-blue mother-of-pearl dial to emulate soft clouds gently blowing across the sky. The focal point of the dial, however, are the 39 brilliant-cut white diamonds and 29 brilliant-cut pink sapphires, all of varying size, which are scattered across the dial along white gold “branches” and call to mind the tranquil beauty of the Japanese cherry blossom.

The case of the Avenue Classic Cherry Blossom was inspired by Harry Winston’s flagship store on 5th Avenue in New York. The art-deco styling serves as a stark, and yet also complementary, contrast to the more traditional influence of the dial. Tying it all together is a vibrant blue-green alligator strap which emphasizes the beautiful mother-of-pearl dial. This timepiece, which represents both an enchanting work of art and an exhibition of the excellent watchmaking which Harry Winston has become known for, leaves us anxious and excited to see what they’ll unveil at Baselworld 2017.
